The rendezvous is sponsored by the Rocky Fork Free Trappers shooting club.

Howell's is an invitational pre-1850 event, requiring period attire and camp. Therefore, please do not post this page or info on Facebook or other social media.  

We provide the historical site, firewood, potable water and the hooters. Ice is available in nearby Rockvale or Laurel.

NOTE:  This is a family friendly camp and no one in camp should feel threatened. All dogs within the camp, parking lot or tin tipi must be on a leash or tether. If a dog is seen off leash, the dog and owner will be asked to leave immediately. Any physical or verbal threats will not be tolerated. Dogs may be off leash in the hay field only.

Re-enactors and visitors must be in pre-1850 attire while in camp beginning on Thursday morning. Pre-1850 attire is not required in the parking lot,  tin tipi or shooting areas.  That is to say that parking, tin tipi and shooting areas are open dress.

Shooters must register upon arrival.  Shooting starts at 10 AM for pistol, smooth bore and rifles on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

You are welcome to drive in and set up any time during the rendezvous; however, driving into camp is allowed to set up camp only. Beginning on Thursday morning, driving into camp is not permitted to re-supply or to visit. Use the parking lot.

All paid participants/campers are encouraged to have a trade blanket/tent at no extra charge. You MUST pay camp fee to trade. Camp fees are $25 per single camp or $40 per family. Please pre-register by July 30 or a late fee of $5 will be charged.

Directions:     (See map below)

From Billings, MT, go about 11 miles west on I-90 to Laurel and turn south on Hwy 212 towards Red Lodge. At about 12 miles you come to Rockvale. Turn left directly across the highway from the Exxon onto Grapevine Road.  This is just before Hwy 310 goes left toward Bridger.

On Grapevine Road, go about 1-1/2 miles to Gibson Road. Turn right, cross Rock Creek and go about ¼ mile to Emergency Locator address 130 Gibson Road.  Turn left into the property by the barn and carefully cross the RR tracks. Go straight ahead, cross the irrigation ditch and turn left. Go through the gate, follow the "road" tracks. The road tracks will turn left and cross the hay field, going into the trees. Camp is in the trees.
